Monitoring the SATREPS Project: Ensuring Excellent Research Stays on Target

The SATREPS team from the Faculty of Agriculture at Padjadjaran University, along with Dr. Seung Won Kang and Prof. Shigekazu Kawashima, carried out a series of monitoring activities from August 5–8, 2025. The visit agenda included the Japanese Embassy, the JICA Indonesia Office, the Agency for Agricultural Assembly and Modernization (BRMP) in Lembang, and the CAB-Tech (Center of Advance Breeding Technique) Laboratory at Unpad.

Through these activities, the CAB-Tech Lab is expected to soon be operational as a center for analytical services and develop into a leading facility supporting sustainable agricultural research in Indonesia.

This activity supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. It does this by building the CAB-Tech Laboratory, a modern research facility, through strong cooperation between UNPAD, Japan, and various parties like JICA. This lab will drive innovation in agriculture by developing chili and tomato seeds that are more resilient to climate change.

This collaboration between academics, government, and international partners demonstrates a model of sustainable cooperation. Its goal is to enhance agricultural productivity and food security in Indonesia, while also helping to improve the welfare of farmers.
