Jatinangor, April 24, 2026 — Universitas Padjadjaran has strengthened its institutional synergy with PT Energi Nusa Mandiri (ENM) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on advancing education and community engagement initiatives. The ceremony took place at the Executive Lounge of Universitas Padjadjaran, Jalan Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, on Friday, 24 April 2026, and was followed by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the company and two academic units, namely the Faculty of Geological Engineering and the Faculty of Agriculture. The agreement was formally signed by the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran, Arief S. Kartasasmita, and the Director of PT Energi Nusa Mandiri, Tria Suprajeni. Subsequent implementation agreements were executed by the respective faculty leaders as part of the operationalisation of the collaboration.

On the occasion, Tria Suprajeni emphasised that ENM’s partnerships with higher education institutions, including Universitas Padjadjaran, are designed to produce systematic documentation of industrial activities that can be developed into educational resources for the broader public. In addition, the company is opening avenues for collaboration centred on the utilisation of post-mining land, which holds significant strategic potential for productive development. This approach not only prioritises environmental rehabilitation but also aims to generate added economic value for communities surrounding operational areas.

Rector Arief S. Kartasasmita expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration, particularly in supporting academic initiatives such as student internship programmes and post-mining land reclamation. He emphasised the need to expand the partnership through a multidisciplinary approach encompassing geology, agriculture, and other strategic sectors including livestock, economics, and health, as a concrete contribution to national development and food security. He further noted that the environmental development orientation of PT ENM aligns with the core scientific principle of Universitas Padjadjaran, “Bina Mulia Hukum dan Lingkungan Hidup dalam Pembangunan Nasional”, serving as a strong foundation for sustained collaboration that not only advances academic objectives but also delivers tangible benefits to society while promoting balanced environmental sustainability.

In this collaboration, the Faculty of Agriculture of Universitas Padjadjaran plays a strategic role in advancing applied research and community-based programmes focused on the sustainable utilisation of post-mining land. The faculty is expected to contribute through innovations in crop cultivation, soil rehabilitation, and agribusiness development, enabling reclaimed land to be optimised into productive and environmentally sustainable agricultural systems. This involvement not only supports the university’s academic mission but also strengthens the linkage between scientific research and practical implementation with direct benefits for local communities.

PT ENM operates in the mining and energy sector, with activities in North Kalimantan encompassing exploration, energy development, and sustainability-oriented post-mining land reclamation. Within this context, the partnership with Universitas Padjadjaran reflects not only a synergy between industry and academia but also a tangible contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). These objectives underscore the importance of sustainable resource management, environmental impact mitigation, and cross-sector collaboration as key pillars in fostering inclusive and environmentally responsible national development.
