Plant Growth Regulators Improve Tomato Productivity and Quality Supporting Global Goals
A research team has studied the combined effects of gibberellin and paclobutrazol on the growth, yield, and quality of tomato fruit. The results show that appropriate regulation of plant hormones can optimize plant architecture, enhance fruit set, and improve postharvest quality. This contributes to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by supporting higher yields and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through better-quality produce.
The study demonstrates how growth regulator management offers farmers practical tools to balance vegetative and reproductive development. This innovation ensures sustainable tomato production with higher market value and reduced postharvest losses, benefiting both growers and consumers.
