Universities must be part of the solution to the nation's problems, and alumni have a crucial role in this. The Faculty of Agriculture at Padjadjaran University held its Agri Summit 2024, which took place over three consecutive days, from August 30 to September 1, 2024. The activities included:
- Talkshow and National Seminar with the theme "Food Sovereignty for National Prosperity."
- Career Talkshow and Job Fair with the theme "Strategies for Preparing Yourself for Your First Career."
- Grand Reunion with the theme "Love for Siblings, Love for the Motherland, & Love for the Hometown."
The Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, encouraged universities to increase the interest of the younger generation in working in the agricultural and fisheries sectors. During the National Seminar on Food Resilience and Agri Summit 2024 at Padjadjaran University, Dipatiukur, he highlighted the regeneration challenge in the agricultural sector, where the majority of workers are over 45 years old. Data shows that only 19.2 percent of young people are interested in working in this sector, with low income being one of the main reasons. Teten believes that innovation and technology can increase the sector's appeal and create higher-quality jobs. Padjadjaran University has also conducted agricultural research and innovation based on local wisdom to support food sovereignty, while also strengthening SMEs by expanding market access through Agri Summit 2024. On the second day, a career talk show and job fair were held, inviting 5 speakers and attended by approximately 500 freshgraduatestudents from the Faculty of Agriculture, and students from outside Padjadjaran University from various regions. On the third day, Agri Summit 2024 reached its peak in a lively event attended by thousands of alumni from various graduating classes. This was the largest reunion ever in UNPAD's reunion history.
