A total of eight students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, participated in the international Kinouchi Internship Program – Summer 2025, held at Kinouchi Farm Ltd., Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The program ran for over one month, from July 21 to August 23, 2025.
The participating students were Naufal Ikhbar, Kamilrashid Hadi, Keisha Balqis, Alfito Ainur Rifqi, Haniifah Devina, Naomi Callysta, Oktaviano Bema, and Raisa Dwi. This internship provided students with hands-on experience in modern agricultural practices in Japan, particularly in integrated and efficiency-oriented horticultural production systems.
During the program, participants were involved in various cultivation activities, especially on beef tomatoes and cherry tomatoes. These activities included plant pruning, leaf thinning, and weed control, all aimed at maintaining optimal plant conditions and enhancing productivity. In addition, the students gained experience in strawberry nursery management, which involved growing media preparation, fertilization, and transplanting as part of preparations for the upcoming planting season.
Through this program, students not only strengthened their technical skills in crop cultivation but also developed a deeper understanding of farm management practices and work culture in the Japanese agricultural sector, which is widely recognized for its discipline, precision, and efficiency.
Participation in this international program is expected to broaden students’ global perspectives, enhance their practical competencies, and serve as a valuable foundation for contributing to the development of sustainable agriculture in Indonesia.
