A Master’s student from the Agronomy Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran (Faperta Unpad), Putra, participated in the International Workshop on Biodiversity, Integrative Plant Biotechnology and Microbiology Research to Support Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture, held at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, on May 7–9, 2025.
The workshop brought together academics and stakeholders from various countries to address pressing challenges in global agriculture, particularly in maintaining stable crop production under increasingly unpredictable climate conditions. Topics discussed included the impacts of environmental stresses such as drought, flooding, pests, and diseases, as well as the importance of integrated scientific approaches to strengthen agricultural resilience and sustainability.
During the workshop, Putra gained valuable academic experience through exposure to cutting-edge research in plant biotechnology and microbiology. The sessions highlighted integrative approaches combining biodiversity research, molecular breeding, and innovative technologies to support sustainable agriculture. The program also included an industrial visit to CH Biotech R&D Co., Ltd., providing insights into the application of scientific innovations in real-world agricultural practices.
As part of the international scientific forum, Putra presented his research entitled “Genetic Diversity and Phylogenetic Analysis of 35 Chili Pepper Genotypes Using Agro-Morphological and SSR Marker Approaches.” This participation served as a platform for knowledge exchange and opened opportunities for academic discussion and future collaboration with international researchers.
Participation in this workshop provided valuable and world-class research exposure, significantly enhancing academic insight and expanding international networks. This experience is expected to contribute to strengthening research capacity and advancing sustainable agriculture studies within Faperta Unpad.
