Sustainable Palm Cultivation Strategies Supporting Global Goals
A research team assessed growth characteristics and sustainability indices of immature oil palm under monocropping and intercropping systems. The results indicate that intercropping can improve land-use efficiency, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability compared to monocropping. This aligns with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

The findings provide important guidance for the palm oil industry to adopt more sustainable practices. By integrating intercropping, farmers can enhance productivity while reducing negative environmental impacts, contributing to responsible and sustainable agriculture.
