Researchers Promote Youth Fitness and Mental Resilience Supporting Global Goals
A research team has examined the effect of parkour training on improving specific physical fitness and grit in healthy youth football athletes. The study reveals that parkour-based activities enhance agility, coordination, endurance, and resilience, while also building mental toughness and persistence—important traits for young athletes’ overall performance. This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by encouraging healthy lifestyles.
Led by Hasyim, H, the findings highlight how integrating alternative training methods such as parkour can enrich athletic programs beyond conventional routines. This approach contributes not only to the physical development of youth athletes but also to their psychological readiness, fostering a generation of healthier, more determined, and adaptable individuals.
