This community service program was carried out in Mekarasih Village, Jatigede Sub-district, Sumedang Regency, West Java, an area covering 1,153.70 hectares with a population of 24,361. The village is primarily agricultural, with residents engaged in farming, fishing, entrepreneurship, and livestock breeding. Cibunut Hamlet, one of the affected areas from the construction of the Jatigede Reservoir, has a community that continues to utilize available land for cassava, bananas, and other crops, often processing their harvest into local products. The program focused on germplasm conservation and the development of production technology for superior local Roid bananasas an effort to strengthen agricultural sustainability and improve local economic resilience

The activities were divided into four sub-groups: (1) optimizing educational gardens to support greening programs and agro-eco-edu tourism at Bina Harapan Jatigede Junior High School; (2) strengthening community capacity through the introduction of cultivation and pest management of Roid bananas; (3) developing technology for the production of superior banana seedlings; and (4) promoting human resource development through the integration of the Binaraja Millennials Smart Farming (BMSF) learning model. The program contributed significantly to both students and the local community. For students, it provided opportunities to practice the “Tri Dharma of Higher Education” through direct community service, critical thinking, and social engagement.

For the community, it enhanced knowledge in plant breeding, germplasm conservation, and seed technology, improved agricultural productivity, and supported local economic development. This program is expected to serve as a model for developing farmer communities and advancing agroecoedu tourism in Jatigede.
