One such initiative is the Gerai Buah dan Sayur Bale Tatanen, a business unit that serves not only as a marketing platform for agricultural products but also as a hands-on learning space where students can gain direct experience in business management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gerai Buah dan Sayur Bale Tatanen operates every Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Bale Tatanen Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Unpad. The initiative is expected not only to introduce the faculty\u2019s agricultural products to the wider community but also to revitalize Bale Tatanen as a center for agricultural learning and development on campus. The market\u2019s operations involve a number of students, both under the guidance of supervisors and those interested in learning about agricultural business management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nadia, a student at the Faculty of Agriculture who is involved in managing and marketing the Gerai Buah dan Sayur Bale Tatanen, explained that the program was initiated to introduce Bale Tatanen to a broader audience while maximizing the use of the faculty\u2019s facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSo far, Bale Tatanen has had limited activities beyond sales operations. Therefore, we wanted to make it more vibrant and showcase that the Faculty of Agriculture has a Bale Tatanen facility capable of producing agricultural products that can be enjoyed by the public,\u201d Nadia said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to promoting agricultural products, the Gerai Buah dan Sayur Bale Tatanen is expected to contribute to the faculty\u2019s business unit revenue. More importantly, it serves as a learning platform that provides students with practical experience in agribusiness management, from business planning to marketing strategies.\nThrough their involvement in the market, students are introduced to various aspects of business operations, including cost calculation, pricing strategies, and effective marketing techniques.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStudents are taught how to calculate the cost of goods sold, determine selling prices, and understand the marketing process. It is not just about learning theories in the classroom, but also about gaining real-world experience in the field,\u201d she explained.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The products sold at the market include a variety of fruits and vegetables sourced from the Faculty of Agriculture\u2019s cultivation activities as well as from external partners. This product diversity is intended to meet consumer demand while ensuring a stable supply of fresh produce. Several commodities are harvested from farmland managed by the Faculty of Agriculture, while others are obtained through partnerships with external suppliers to maintain product availability and variety.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Nadia, product quality remains the primary consideration in the procurement process. The management team carefully calculates costs and evaluates market conditions to ensure that products remain competitively priced without compromising quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe strive to maintain a balance between price and quality. Some products may be more expensive, but they also offer higher quality, which keeps them attractive to consumers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond selling fresh produce, the Gerai Buah dan Sayur Bale Tatanen also serves as a platform to showcase agricultural cultivation activities carried out within the faculty. Commodities such as chili peppers and various vegetables are grown on faculty-managed farmland before being marketed directly to consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking ahead, the management team hopes that the market will gain wider recognition, both within Universitas Padjadjaran and among the general public. Support from the academic community is also expected to strengthen the sustainability of the program as a platform for education, entrepreneurship, and agricultural product promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe hope this market continues to grow and receives support from various stakeholders. We want it to become a learning hub for students as well as a showcase for the agricultural products developed by the Faculty of Agriculture,\u201d Nadia concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Through the development of the Bale Tatanen Fruit and Vegetable Market, the Faculty of Agriculture at Unpad is not only promoting locally produced agricultural commodities but also building a practice-based learning ecosystem that strengthens students\u2019 competencies in agribusiness and entrepreneurship. The program is expected to produce graduates with entrepreneurial skills, a strong understanding of agricultural value chains, and the capacity to contribute to a more innovative and sustainable agricultural sector.\nThis initiative also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through experiential learning, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by fostering student entrepreneurship, and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through the promotion of local agricultural products and sustainable production
