Rudi Rubijaya, a doctoral student in Agricultural Science at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran (Faperta Unpad), was selected as part of the Indonesian delegation to participate in the prestigious International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ICARRD+20), held in Cartagena, Colombia, in February 2026. The conference serves as a key global platform bringing together international stakeholders to address critical issues in agrarian reform and rural development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICARRD+20 marks the continuation of the first conference held in 2006 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, representing two decades of reflection and evaluation on global agrarian reform progress. The event was officially opened by the President of Colombia and attended by delegates from 36 countries, including government representatives\u2014among them several Ministers of Agriculture\u2014as well as civil society organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Indonesian delegation was led by Prof. Sam Herodian, Special Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, and included representatives from the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning (ATR\/BPN), along with civil society organizations such as the Consortium for Agrarian Reform (KPA) and the Indonesian Farmers Union (SPI). The conference addressed strategic issues including agrarian justice, environmental and climate challenges, and pathways toward sustainable rural development, which will be formalized in the ICARRD+20 Declaration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the delegation, Rudi Rubijaya actively participated not only in plenary sessions but also as a speaker in parallel sessions. His presentation was closely aligned with his doctoral research on agrarian reform, providing a valuable opportunity to bridge academic inquiry with global policy discourse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This participation reflects the growing internationalization of Faperta Unpad students and highlights the contribution of emerging scholars in global policy forums. The experience is expected to enrich academic perspectives and strengthen capacity in advancing equitable and sustainable agrarian reform policies in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
