Eight students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran (Faperta Unpad) have been awarded the prestigious JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) Scholarship for Student Exchange 2025, undertaking a one-year academic exchange at Yamagata University, Japan, from September 2025 to August 2026. This program represents a significant milestone in strengthening student internationalization through immersive academic, research, and cross-cultural experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the program, students are actively engaged in cutting-edge research across multidisciplinary fields. In plant biochemistry, research focuses on phenylpropanoid metabolism and lignin biosynthesis, including the study of lignin-bound phenolic compounds in aquatic and terrestrial plant species to understand metabolic diversity and plant adaptation. In plant nutrition and soil science, students investigate carbon dynamics across different land-use systems, utilizing stable isotope techniques and conducting both field and laboratory analyses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the field of agricultural ecology, under the supervision of Associate Prof. Dr. Satoru Sato, students explore the utilization of organisms within agricultural ecosystems, particularly the application of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) for sustainable waste management, agriculture, and environmental education. These research activities are further enriched through collaborations with various partners, including schools, farms, and conservation institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond research, students actively participate in international academic and community engagement, including seminars, scientific presentations, and global networking activities. They also contribute as cultural ambassadors of Indonesia, delivering lectures on Indonesian agriculture, engaging in educational outreach in local schools, and participating in international festivals and exhibitions to showcase both research outputs and cultural identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program also provides holistic development through teaching assistance, laboratory orientation programs, and Japanese language training, enhancing students\u2019 adaptability, communication skills, and intercultural competence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This participation highlights Faperta Unpad\u2019s strong commitment to fostering globally competitive graduates with advanced research capabilities and international exposure. The experience equips students with critical skills, global perspectives, and leadership capacity to contribute to the advancement of sustainable agriculture in an increasingly interconnected world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
