Thai Nguyen, Vietnam (October 14\u201316, 2025) \u2013 Students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University (Faperta Unpad) participated in the International Climate Change Conference 2025, hosted at the Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, which brought together academics, students, communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the private sector, and government representatives from various countries, served as a platform to share best practices and innovative solutions to global climate change challenges. The participation of Faperta Unpad students is also a tangible manifestation of the Indonesian youth's role in strengthening scientific diplomacy, building international networks, and contributing to the development of sustainable and low-emission agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe involvement of Faperta Unpad students in this international forum has been a valuable experience in strengthening scientific capacity, environmental leadership, and global networks. Besides gaining insights into climate adaptation and mitigation strategies from various countries, as students, we also learned about the importance of transdisciplinary research that connects agricultural science, ecology, economics, and social sciences,<\/em>\", said Diyah Sri Utami, a student representative from the Doctoral Program at the Unpad Faculty of Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diyah also explained that on the first day, participants, including students, discussed community-based climate action, emphasizing the importance of local innovations and multi-stakeholder collaboration in waste management and renewable energy. Sustainable climate change solutions must be rooted in local initiatives empowered by scientific knowledge and adaptive policy support. Furthermore, factors influencing the success of climate mitigation include multi-stakeholder collaboration to bridge the gap between policy and field implementation, as well as strategies for building an inclusive policy ecosystem to support community action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the second day, they had the opportunity to visit the Climate Learning Center (CLC) at TUAF to learn about sustainable agricultural practices (agroforestry, bio-fertilizers) and gain inspiration to develop an \"Agroecology and Climate Learning Hub\" at Unpad. Students also delved into sustainable finance trends, which now prioritize projects with social and environmental impact, envisioned as a collaborative platform integrating research, education, and farmer empowerment towards a green and climate-resilient agricultural system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the third day was the Faperta Unpad students' research presentation titled \u201cLow-Emission Strategy: Co-Cultivation of Rice and Azolla for Climate-Resilient Farming.\u201d<\/em> Co-Cultivation of Rice and Azolla Azolla<\/em> for Climate-Resilient Farming.\u201d This research proved that the co-cultivation of rice and Azolla (a nitrogen-fixing water fern) can be a 100% natural farming practice, reduce greenhouse gas emissions (CH\u2084 and N\u2082O), increase soil carbon, and support food security on saline land. The paper presented in this scientific session is part of the low-emission and circular agriculture research initiatives being developed at the Unpad Faculty of Agriculture, in line with the Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) agenda and the SDGs, particularly Goal 13 (Climate Action).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This participation strengthens scientific capacity, global networks, and the commitment of Faperta Unpad to produce change agents and integrate research with tangible community action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
